Dateline: White House
Published in Hardcover by MacMillan Publishing Company (November, 1975)
Author: Helen Thomas
Average review score:

Wonderful Glimpse!
I read her "Front Row at the White House" first and expected to get the same information, just not as many presidents. But in her first book, Ms. Thomas included more informaiton than in her second book.

You've always read about the presidents, by reading this book you get a 'behind the scenes' glimpse into their lives and how the reporters do their jobs.

It's more than a love story; it was wonderful!
Pershall does a wonderful job in keeping with historical facts, while writing one terrific love story. Her two main characters are so likeable. This book makes you feel as if your right there in the story. I could not put the book down, I was sorry to see it end.

A Day in the Night of America
Published in Hardcover by Random House (September, 1992)
Average review score:

I'm Not Alone
I read this book a few years into my now eleven years working nights. I was amazed at the insight into the world of working nights. I (like most people) had never thought about just how many people there are out there that work nights--we (those of us that work nights) really are the "invisible society", people just don't realize just how many of us there are. It was interesting to read about other people and their jobs and what it is like for them to work nights. I enjoyed learning why many of them, like me, choose to work nights. It was reassuring to learn that I'm not the only one battling my built-in sleeping patterns!!

What is night?
Kevin Coyne proves that night is a place, one far different than day. Night uncovers a seperate world. In A Day in the Night of America, Kevin Coyne lets us live a night in the life of the people who keep America alive while most people sleep. From the police who roam the streets to those taking their final exam at Dunkin' Donuts University, you will be introduced to a very interesting group of people.

Days of Devotion: Daily Meditations from the Good Shepherd
Published in Hardcover by Viking Press (May, 1996)
Authors: John, John P. Donnelly, Pope John Xxiii, Dorothy White, and Pope John XXIII
Average review score:

This book helps me get through each day more easily.
I love this book. It is written by one of the greatest men of the Twentieth Century, and one of its most beloved. The thing that is so pleasing about this book is that one can read each day as it comes along, and still read this like a great novel that really happens. it is as relevant today, actually more so, as it was in 1962. This has to be one of the most underappreciated books of the last half-century. I will admit, I am a Catholic, but Pope John meant for this book to read and profited from by all Christians-remember, he kept repeating, "Ut unum sint"-"That they may be one", as he neared his passing. this book may be the true key to Christian reunification. So whether you are Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist or Baptist, it would do you good to pick up this great tome. It will amke life easier...if you really listen.

Dead White Males
Published in Paperback by Currency Press (December, 1995)
Author: David Williamson
Average review score:

Great book!
In this book, David Williamson satirises the pretentions of post-structuralism and post modernism.

Its very funny, explains the concepts(although the theorists are mixed up as part of the satire).

A must read for everyone who's familiar with Focault, Derrida, Barthes et al

Deadly Paradise
Published in Paperback by Gold Medal (October, 1996)
Author: Vicki Mason White
Average review score:

Great!
This is an adventuresome book. Entertaining until the very end. Ms. White does a great job and continues to do so in her second book.

Decorating Naturally: White, Cream and Natural Materials in Your Home
Published in Hardcover by Crescent Books (February, 1996)
Authors: Julia Bird and Pia Tryde
Average review score:

This book is a "classic"
Many books like "white on white" or "white and blue" re-used the theme that was wonderfully exposed hire. The argument is the following: "the simple home is about living with ease, space and light...It is simply created by using whites and natural materials as the foundations for each room. Within this framework other colours can then be introduced according to the season and how your mood fluctuates".

Deep Ellum and Central Track: Where the Black and White Worlds of Dallas Converged
Published in Hardcover by University of North Texas Press (November, 1998)
Authors: Alan B. Govenar, Jay F. Brakefield, and Alan B. Governar
Average review score:

A fascinating study of music and culture in Dallas.
This is a well researched and well written description of a time and place in Dallas in the 20's and 30's that has long been overdue. The history of blues, jazz, gospel and country was written in Deep Ellum. It was a "good read", and I recommend it highly.
